Mobile app subscription revenue jumped to $4.6B
Revenue that mobile apps receive from the subscription business model increased by 21% in 2019.
US App Store subscription chart is dominated by YouTube, followed by Tinder. While in terms of overall revenue, Tinder is on top, getting high revenue through Tinder Premium and Tinder Gold services.
Subscriptions benefit even those apps who are further down on the charts. Top 10 subscription apps grew by 10% in 2019, but the No. 11 to No. 100 apps grew by 35% in the same period of time.
K-1 visa report on “International Dating Trends”
RapidVisa, digital visa processing platform, posted its report on K-1 visa (also known as ‘fiancé visa’) “International Dating Trends”.
According to the report:
- 55% of K-1 visa applicants met online, mostly on dating sites that have niches in the Asian region (particularly the Philippines);
- New niche is appearing: people who met through online gaming;
- Meeting in person still remains the most preferable method for Dominican, Mexican and Jamaican singles.
Tinder introduces safety-focused updates
Match Group plans to make apps in their portfolio more secure and safer for users, starting with Tinder.
First, they integrated personal safety app Noonlight, which allows the U.S. users to share details about upcoming dates: who they are meeting, where and when. The app also lets users discreetly trigger emergency services when needed.
The second feature allows users to verify the profile by submitting a series of selfies to AI. Verified members will be marked with a blue checkmark.
Finally, Tinder plans to add a feature ‘Does This Bother You?’ where users can report an offensive message, powered by machine learning.
