Online dating leaders launch hackathon

Trust and safety leaders from Hinge and Grindr are organizing a hackathon on July 10th, 2023, focused on brainstorming ways for AI to better protect users across platforms.

The event will take place at the Hyatt Regency on the Embarcadero in San Francisco, and participants can join remotely or in-person.

The top 3 solutions developed at the hackathon will be presented at the TrustCon event on July 11-13 and shared online for continued development.

Match Group’s new LGBTQ+ app

Match Group has launched Archer, a new social-first dating app for gay, bisexual, and queer men. The app will be available in New York this summer and will be rolled out nationally later in 2023.

Archer combines social media and dating app features to create a safer space for men to connect with each other and aims to empower users to be their full selves.

These events aim to bridge the gap between online and offline dating and provide more opportunities for members to meet and connect. Tinder members will have early access to tickets, allowing them to bring a match to the events.

Apple allows kids dating, betting

Peers are pushing for stricter age restrictions on technology companies due to a loophole that allows children to download dating and gambling apps from Apple’s App Store.

The “Anonymous Chat Room Dating App,” advertised as “adult-only fans with strangers,” is among the examples highlighted.

Baroness Kidron, founder of the 5Rights child advocacy group, and Baroness Harding of Winscombe are advocating for amendments to the Online Safety Bill that would put greater age verification duties on Apple and Google.
