Threads App Seamlessly Connects Users
With 30 million users already on board, Threads, a new app by Meta, aims to rival Twitter by leveraging Instagram’s strong presence.
Mark Zuckerberg has described it as friendly competition and an attempt to create a more welcoming environment. However, Twitter is already considering legal action, and Threads has faced criticism for missing features like direct messaging and hashtags, as well as its data requirements and association with Instagram.
While Twitter has become increasingly controversial, Threads seeks to offer a friendlier social network, but only time will tell if it can deliver on its promise.
Match Group’s Stock Skyrockets in June
Match Group’s stock experienced a significant surge of 21.3% in June, attributed to factors such as increased management confidence, positive analyst sentiment, and strategic efforts undertaken by the company.
CEO Bernard Kim showcased his faith in the company’s potential by investing $1.08M in Match stock, significantly increasing his holdings. Analysts also expressed optimism about Match’s turnaround initiatives, which involve streamlining operations, reducing expenses, introducing a new marketing campaign for Tinder, and developing a new dating app. Furthermore, Match Group unveiled a $1B share repurchase program. Despite this positive momentum, Match’s shares remain 77% lower than their previous record highs in 2021.
Happn Introduces “Ready to Date”
Happn has unveiled a fresh feature called “Ready to date,” enabling users to signal their willingness to meet offline. This feature is seamlessly integrated into the conversation page of two users, ensuring privacy until both users express their readiness.
Karima Ben Abdelmalek, the CEO and President of Happn, emphasized the significance of consent in this feature, aligning with Happn’s mission of facilitating connections that extend beyond the digital realm into real-life relationships.
