25% of Japanese couples who quickly get married met through dating apps
A survey by Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance revealed that in Japan, 25% of couples who married within a year of meeting each other used a dating app.
The survey, which targeted married individuals aged 20-79, also found that 31.2% met their spouses at work, and 23.6% through friends.
The use of dating apps was most common among people in their twenties, while matchmaking parties and events were more popular among those in their thirties. The pandemic influenced these trends, as remote work reduced workplace meetings.
